How to get a grant for AI training: the 2026 call is open

On 1 July 2026, Úřad práce ČR (Czech Labour Office) launched the Vzdělávání pro firmy programme (Czech for “Training for Companies”) — the successor to the popular DIGI pro firmu grant programme. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until 31 August 2028, but previous calls have taught us one thing: the budget runs out fast, and the companies that get the most are the ones with their application ready before everyone else. This article shows you how to be one of them.

For an overview of all current programmes, see the article Grants for AI training 2026. This one is purely about preparation.

Why prepare in advance

The contribution is calculated per trained person-hour: CZK 260.73 towards course fees + CZK 217.46 towards wages, CZK 478.19 per person per hour in total. In practice: an 8-hour course for 10 people means a grant of roughly CZK 38,000. The cap is 80 person-hours per employee under 50 and 100 person-hours for those aged 50 and over. The programme runs until August 2028, but if you apply late, you risk an exhausted budget and a queue in processing. Preparation takes a few weeks — and you can do most of it right now.

5 steps to getting the grant

  1. Define the goal of the training. Not “we want to know AI”, but specifically: which teams, which of their tasks AI will speed up, what result you want to see in 3 months. A short AI process audit shows this best.
  2. Work out the scope. Number of participants × number of hours = person-hours, which determine the size of the grant. With grants, a coherent programme (a series of sessions) beats a one-off lecture.
  3. Choose your training provider in advance. Calls usually require you to document the content and outputs — a provider who has delivered grant-funded training before will prepare the supporting documents for your application.
  4. Get your documents ready. Typically: company and employee details, a description of the training, a price quote. The call sets out the exact list — but you can have 80% of it ready before you start filling in the form.
  5. Submit your application in the Vzdělávání pro firmy online system. The call is open — you apply electronically, and approval takes a matter of weeks. I help my clients set up their applications.
