Short answer: yes, there are grants for AI training in 2026 — but the programme landscape has changed fundamentally since last year. The popular DIGI pro firmu (a Czech grant for digital training in companies) ended in November 2025, and many websites still wrongly describe it as active. Its successor, Vzdělávání pro firmy (“Training for companies”), is already running. Here is where things stand in October 2026, and what to do to get the most out of the new wave of funding.
What has ended: DIGI pro firmu (National Recovery Plan)
The most widely used programme for digital and AI training of employees accepted applications until 15 October 2025, and the training had to be completed by 30 November 2025. In 2026 you can no longer draw on it. If someone promises you a grant “from DIGI”, they are working with outdated information.
What is running and what is coming in 2026
Vzdělávání pro firmy (Úřad práce ČR) — the successor to DIGI
A new Labour Office project that follows directly on from DIGI pro firmu. The call has been open since 1 July 2026, and applications are submitted on a rolling basis until 31 August 2028 through the Vzdělávání pro firmy application. The contribution: CZK 260.73 per person-hour of training + CZK 217.46 wage contribution, together CZK 478.19 per person per hour; a maximum of 80 person-hours per employee under 50 (approx. CZK 38,000) and 100 person-hours from age 50 (approx. CZK 48,000). It is paid retrospectively after completion, under the de minimis regime (EU rules on small-scale state aid). The allocation is drawn down continuously — if your training plan is ready, apply now.
OPZ+ Podnikové vzdělávání (call no. 83)
This call under OPZ+ (OP Zaměstnanost plus, an EU-funded Czech programme), with an allocation of CZK 700 million for 2026–2027, accepted applications until 26 January 2026. New applications are no longer possible — but if your company was successful, you can deliver the training right now and include AI skills in it.
Kurzy digitálního vzdělávání (“Jsem v kurzu”) — for individuals and the self-employed
A state contribution towards digital-skills courses of up to CZK 35,000 per person, with a co-payment of at least 23.27% (low-income groups can get full coverage). Since July 2026 training providers have been adding courses to the database; as of October 2026, applications from individuals had not yet opened — the launch is announced for the second half of the year. Suitable for the self-employed and for individuals who want to learn to work with AI even without an employer to pay for the training.
Who is eligible
For Labour Office programmes, generally companies of all sizes and self-employed people with employees; for the contribution for individuals, anyone who registers via Identita občana (the Czech government's digital identity login). The conditions of the Vzdělávání pro firmy call are published on the Labour Office website (effective from 1 July 2026), and applications are submitted exclusively online through the project's application.
How to get ready (4 steps)
- Define the training goal now — which teams, which AI skills, how many hours.
- Prepare a training plan that matches the expected programme conditions.
- Apply in the Vzdělávání pro firmy application — the call is open and the allocation is drawn down continuously, so the sooner the better.
- Deliver and document the training according to the programme rules.
What to watch out for
- Websites and offers that still promise a “grant from DIGI pro firmu” — the programme ended in November 2025.
- Allocations tend to run out quickly; towards the end of DIGI, companies were queuing impatiently.
- The training must meet the programme conditions (scope, documentation, outputs) — otherwise the grant has to be repaid.
Conclusion
2026 is a transition year: the old programmes have ended and their successor, Vzdělávání pro firmy, is already accepting applications. If you prepare an AI training plan and apply now, you pay a fraction of the training cost. If you wait, you risk finding the allocation exhausted.
